This is a class for movers getting started or revisiting ballet again as an adult. Dancers are introduced to fundamentals in classical ballet technique, including basic positions of the feet and arms, and vocabulary such as: parallel first, first position, second position, demi-plié, tendu. Students focus on alignment while performing progressions at the barre, center work, and across the floor to develop body awareness, coordination, flexibility, strength, and music concepts.

CRITICAL THINKING: CONTEMPORARY HEALTH ISSUES
Contemporary Health Issues is a speaking intensive course designed to increase the student’s knowledge about international issues, policies and events that affect the health of populations. This course includes an examination of the significance of bioethical, social, cultural, epidemiological, and economic factors that impact health. Class sessions will be used to engage in dialogue and debate about student-derived health issues. Practical application activities and a service-learning project will complement the class. Students will gain valuable skills in public speaking, research and writing, negotiation, and powers of persuasion, leadership, organization, and interpersonal communication.
ABOUT GC THRIVE
The GC THRIVE program is a two-year, inclusive post-secondary education program designed to enable young adults with intellectual disabilities to attend college with their non-disabled peers. Designed to be a transformative experience fostering further diversity on campus, the program empowers students to achieve success through academic support during the traditional liberal arts experience. The GC THRIVE program provides the skills students need to have agency in their career, financial, and independent living choices.
